From Oct 15, TDOC Secretariat hosted 5 days event, the“2018 Taiwan E-Government and Smart City Workshop” in Taipei, Taiwan. Totally there are 13 delegates from 5 different countries in the Southeast Asia including Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Lao. The workshop was completed successfully on Oct 19.
According the report provided by Waseda University in Japan in 2016, the ranking of Taiwanese E-Government is No. 10 (No. 17 in 2015), the same as United Kingdom. Regarding the situation of Smart City in Taipei, the Eden Strategy Institute in Singapore announces that ranking is No. 16 in the world and No. 5 in Asia. It believes that it is valuable to share Taiwanese experience.
Through this workshop, the delegates could have the overview of E-Government and Smart City ICT solutions in Taiwan and speak to experts and specialists from each domain. The detailed topics including LPWAN, IoT, Esay Card, Document Exchange, E-Commerce and Startup innovation association.
To align with the subject of workshop, the delegation visited the Taipei Bus Station, Taipei City Disaster Response Center, Taipei Transportation Information City, Freeway Bureau, and TAVAR in DigiBlock. The site-visiting could deliver the further impression of E-Government and Smart City to delegates.
During the 5 days workshop in Taiwan, the delegates also enjoyed the Taiwanese traditional and classic food such as night market and stir-fried restaurant, and had snapshot with Taipei 101, the No.12 (2018) of tallest building in the world.
Most of delegates delivers the positive feedback and wishes more similar events could be happened in their countries. The workshop in 2018 shares the Taiwanese experience and establishes the platform that each delegate could communicate and exchange the related ideas. It is expected that this platform could be the beginning of the further cooperation in the Southeast Asia.
